Trata-se de um estudo de caso do setor de peças automobilÃsticas com o objetivo de comparar o custo total de propriedade (TCO), obtido por meio de questionário e de documentos contábeis, de utilização de dois softwares, um proprietário e outro livre, para detectar o menos oneroso. Separou-se a organização em dois grupos: setor de TI (técnicos) e todos os outros setores (usuários finais). Acrescentaram-se à análise comparativa as visões dos técnicos de TI e dos executivos responsáveis pela migração dos softwares, obtidas por meio de entrevistas. No setor de TI, chegou-se a valores financeiros que viabilizaram a comparação com a dispensa de técnicas estatÃsticas, devido à realização de um censo. Em todos os outros setores foi necessária a aplicação de técnicas estatÃsticas não-paramétricas. Como principal resultado, pôde-se perceber a redução de custos com a utilização de software livre.
The present paper is about a case study on automobile pieces which aimed at comparing the total cost ownership (TCO), obtained through questionnaires and accounting documents, of two softwares, one with an owner and the other free, in order to detect the least expensive of the two. The organization was divided into two groups, the sector of technicians (TI) and all the other sectors (final users). To the comparative analysis were added the views of TI technicians and of the executives responsible for the migration of softwares, through interviews. Concernign the TI sector, financial amounts were obtained which allowed the comparison without statistics thechniques, since there was a census. In all the other sectors, non-parameter statistics techniques were applied. As a main result, it was possible to notice the cost reduction with the free software.
