A pesquisa objetiva avaliar o efeito de corretivos nos atributos do solo e no crescimento inicial da mamona (Ricinus communis L.) e do girassol (Helianthus annus L.) cultivados em solos degradados por sais. O solo, coletado no PerÃmetro Irrigado de São Gonçalo/Souza-PB e após a gessagem e lavagem, foi analisado. A seguir aplicou-se ácido sulfúrico, procedeu-se a incubação e novamente amostragem para análises. Avaliou-se a tolerância à salinidade das duas espécies cultivadas em solo salinizado com seis diferentes doses de ácido sulfúrico concentrado (0,0 – 1,0 – 2,0 – 3,0 – 4,0 – 5,0 mL kg-1). Segundo os resultados, o gesso reduziu o pH, CE e Na+ do solo e aumentou os teores de Ca2+. A aplicação do ácido sulfúrico reduziu significativamente o pH do solo, mas não apresentou aumento significativo na altura, diâmetro do coleto, número de folhas e produção de massa seca das duas espécies estudadas.
The objective research to evaluate the effect of amendments in the attributes of the soil and in the initial growth of the castor oil plant (Ricinus communis L.) and of the sunflower (Helianthus annus L.) cultivated in soils degraded by salts. The soil, collected in São Gonçalo/Souza-PB's Irrigated Perimeter and after the application of gypsum and wash, it was analyzed. To follow sulfuric acid it was applied, proceeded the incubation and again sampling for analyses. The tolerance was evaluated to the salinity of the two species cultivated in soil saline with six different rate of concentrated sulfuric acid (0,0 - 1,0 - 2,0 - 3,0 - 4,0 - 5,0 mL kg-1). According to the results, the gypsum reduced the pH, CE and Na+ of the soil and it increased the contents of Ca2+. The application of the sulfuric acid reduced the pH of the soil significantly, but it didn't present significant increase in the height, diameter of the collect, number of leaves and production of dry mass of the two studied species.
