Este artigo trata histórica e comparativamente de questões relacionadas à s representações que foram sendo associadas e incorporadas ao rock e ao universo roqueiro e divulgadas na imprensa brasileira e portuguesa durante os anos 1970 a 1985. Partindo de análises de matérias, entrevistas e reportagens, buscamos demonstrar que, embora a imagem do cabeludo não fizesse parte única e exclusivamente do universo roqueiro, o uso das guedelhas longas acabou se tornando uma representação do cÃrculo do rock. Aliás, a figura do cabeludo e do roqueiro não foi, frequentemente, bem vista no perÃodo, muito mais pelas restrições de caráter comportamental do que pela eventual militância polÃtico-partidária ou engajada. Além do mais, procuramos refletir sobre a relação entre rock, rebeldia juvenil e atitude roqueira como uma caracterÃstica marcante do gênero.
This article addresses historically and comparatively a few issues related to representations attached to rock music and the rocker universe in Brazilian and Portuguese press during the 1970’s and until 1985. Based on the analysis of interpretation of media stories, interviews, and news reports, we intend to demonstrate that, although the image of long-haired men was not exclusive to the rocker world, tousled long hair became a representation of rocker circle. The image of the long-haired man (“cabeludoâ€) and the rocker was not often seen with good eyes at that time, due rather to behavior restrictions tan to political or party activismo or engagement. We also try to discuss the relationship between rock, youth rebellion, and the rocker attitude as defining characteristics of the genre.
