O presente trabalho tem como propósito discutir questões referentes a produção do espaço urbano, do município de Três Barras (SC), decorrente da ação da Southem Brazil Lumber and Colonization Company no início do século XX, através da sua company towm, bem como do impacto causado à população local, no que se refere aos aspectos socioculturais. Para tanto é focalizada a análise do empreendimento situando-o no cenário histórico e econômico da época. Outro ponto de interpretação está voltado às relações de produção da serraria, visto que, numa sociedade em que, até então, as relações de trabalho eram desconhecidas, os sujeitos menos favorecidos passaram a ter novas modalidades de controle: dos capangas dos coronéis para o controle do corpo de segurança da serraria.
The aim of the present work is to discuss questions referring to the urban space production in the city of Três Barras (SC), due to the Southern Brazil Lumber and Colonization Company’s action in the beginning of the XXth. Century, through its company town, as well as the impact caused to the local population, concerning the socio-cultural aspects. Therefore it is focused the enterprise analysis, placing it in the historical and economical scenery of the time. Another point of interpretation is turned to the sawmill production relations, once in a society where up to that time, the work relations were unknown, the less favored subjects started to have new control modalities: from the Colonels henchmen for the sawmill security control.
