No Brasil, a violência doméstica tem atingido números alarmantes nos dados estatísticos. Ainda que esforços tenham sido empreendidos do ponto de vista legislativo e das entidades representativas das vítimas de violência doméstica, as demandas são diversas, aumentando ainda mais as vulnera-bilidades. Nem todas as mulheres pertencentes a diferentes comunidades, têm acesso aos direitos e às demais informações em sua língua, o que agrava o risco da violência em relação a esses grupos. Os estudos de Borja-Albi e Del Pozo-Triviño (2018), Del Pozo-Triviño (2017), Del Pozo-Triviño e Toledano-Buendía (2016) comprovam tais vulnerabilidades. A tradução de textos jurídicos e/ou instrucionais desempenha um papel fundamental nessas situações, carecendo a atenção de pes-quisadores em Estudos da Tradução, bem como tradutores e/ou intérpretes especializados. Assim sendo, este texto descreve a construção de um projeto de tradução do português para a Libras, assim como relata e discute experiências e desafios no processo tradutório de uma cartilha sobre violência doméstica produzida pelo Tribunal de Justiça de Santa Catarina.
In Brazil, domestic violen-ce has reached alarming figures in statistical data. Although efforts have been made from the legislative and representative bodies of victims of domestic violence point of view, the demands are diverse, further increa-sing vulnerabilities. Not all women from different communities have access to rights and other information in their language, which in-creases the risk of violence against these groups. The studies of Borja-Albi and Del Pozo-Triviño (2018), Del Po-zo-Triviño (2017), Del Pozo--Triviño and Toledano-Buen-día (2016) demonstrate these vulnerabilities. The translation of legal and/or instructional texts play a fundamental role in these situations, requiring the attention of researchers in Translation Studies, as well as translators and/or specia-lized interpreters. Thus, this text describes the making of a project for translating Por-tuguese into Brazilian Sign Language – Libras –, as well as it reports and discusses experiences and challenges in the translation process of a booklet on domestic violence produced by the Court of Jus-tice of Santa Catarina, Brazil.KEYWORDSTranslation Studies; Domestic violence; Vulnerabilities.
