This article discusses different epistemological approaches, emphasizing
the possibilities opened by the amerindian perspectivism as it has been
proposed by Viveiros de Castro. Using this background discussion some
remarks will be made regarding the narrative strategies used by Guimarães
Rosa in the short story Meu Tio o Iauaretê and how it can contribute to new
perspectives on the matter of cultural translation.
