Este artigo intenciona tecer uma relação comparativa entre O retrato de Dorian Gray, de Oscar Wilde, e O Bom Crioulo, de Adolfo Caminha, tendo como base Problemas de Gênero: Feminismo e Subversão da Identidade, da teórica americana Judith Butler, com enfoque no desempenho da homossexualidade apresentada pelas personagens, questão que é recorrente em ambas as obras. Nesse sentido, buscamos analisar as performances dos personagens, no que compete à sexualidade e a o que isso influenciou no destino dos mesmos, no decorrer das tramas. Nosso referencial teórico-metodológico será Butler (2010), Silva (2014) e Fernandes (2015).
This paper aims to articulate a comparation between The picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde, and O Bom Crioulo, by Adolfo Caminha, based on Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity, by the American theoretical Judith Butler, focusing on the performance of homosexuality presented by the characters, which is a question that is manifested in both works. In this sense, we seek to analyze the performances of the characters towards to their sexuality, and what this may influence on their destiny in the course of the stories. Our analysis is supported by critical and theoretical principles drawn from Butler (2010) Silva (2014) and Fernandes (2015).
