Este artigo configura-se como um relato histórico da consolidação do movimento ambientalista no mundo e no Brasil, assim como da Educação Ambiental no país. Trata-se de um levantamento a respeito dos principais marcos históricos que influenciaram direta ou indiretamente o movimento ambientalista e a consolidação da Educação Ambiental, assim como uma discussão a respeito das principais ecoconferências internacionais de meio ambiente e desenvolvimento. Desta maneira, o presente trabalho tem o objetivo de auxiliar educadores ambientais, no que se refere à perspectiva histórica do movimento e dos estudos referentes à Educação Ambiental.
This paper presents itself as an historical report of the setting of the Environmental movement on the world and in Brazil as well as the Evironmental Education in the country. It assembles notes about the main landmarks that have directly or indirectly influenced the environmentalist movement and the consolidation of Environmental Education, also discussing the most notable international eco-conferences about Environment and Development. Thus, this paper is intended for environmental educators, in an attempt to help them know more about the historical perspective of the movement and recent studies regarding Environmental Education.
