Propondo novas perspectivas analíticas, o artigo revisita o clássico Ensaio sobre a dádiva de Marcel Mauss. Para tanto, retorna-se às devidas influências teóricas durkheimianas presentes na referida obra e, muitas vezes, ignoradas pela crítica posterior para, em seguida, avaliar com mais segurança as ideias e conceitos propostos por Mauss e as duas vertentes de autores “maussistas” que disputam e tornam mais evidentes ora o caráter voluntário da dádiva, ora o seu caráter obrigatório.
Proposing new analytic perspectives, the article revisits the classic The gift by Marcel Mauss. For this purpose, it returns to the due influential theories of Durkheim present in the that text and, many times, neglected by the subsequent critical, further up, to assess better security the ideas and concepts proposed by Mauss and the two lines of “maussists” authors that dispute and become more evident now the voluntary character of gift, now its obligatory character.
