O artigo pretende expor algumas considerações ético-jurídico-sociais acerca das implicações acometidas pela engenharia genética no mundo contemporâneo e a (in)conveniência de tutela penal para proteção dos bens jurídicos, tendo em vista a dignidade da pessoa humana, o princípio da responsabilidade e a Lei de Biossegurança.

This article is intended to explain the social-ethical-juridical implications caused by genetic engineering in the contemporary world and the (in)convenience of penal custody to the protection of juridical benefits, considering the dignity of the human person, the principle of responsibility and the biosecurity law.
