A contemporaneidade, conforme elucidam os pressupostos educacionais presentesnos PCNs e nas OCNs, tem se revelado um tempo de profícuas discussões sobre aimportância da incorporação dos componentes culturais constitutivos do horizonte social doaluno no âmbito do ensino, tanto de língua materna ou estrangeira como das literaturas. Emconcordância com a pertinência dessas discussões, esse trabalho pretende dar ênfase ànecessidade de se trazer para a instância do ensino de línguas e literaturas na Unemat(Universidade Estadual do Mato Grosso) componentes culturais correspondentes as etniasindígenas que habitavam e habitam a região do município de Tangará da Serra, onde estáinstalado um dos campi da Unemat. Almeja-se também sinalizar que a valorização do local noensino de línguas e literaturas torna-se importante em qualquer nível de ensino, seja médio,fundamental ou universitário e pode contribuir para ampliar o imaginário cultural dos alunos eatuar na dissolução de preconceitos e intolerâncias.
The contemporary period, stimulated by the educat ional assumptions present in the PCNs and OCNs, has proved a time of fruitful discus sions on the importance of incorporating cultural components constituting the social horizon of the student in teaching, both as a mother language or foreign language as well as the literatures. In agreement with the relevance of these discussions, this paper aims at emphasizing the need to bring the instance of teaching languages and literatures at Unemat (State University of Mato Grosso) focusing on cultural components of indigenous groups who in habited and inhabit the region of the city of Tangará da Serra, one of which is installed at Unemat campus. It is hoped that the enhancement of the teaching of local languages and literatures becomes important at any level of education, or school, elementary or college and can help to broaden the cultural imagination/imaginary of the students and act in th e dissolution of prejudice and intolerance.
