O objetivo deste texto é refletir sobre o método historiográfico de Erwin Panosfsky e seu
conceito de iconologia. O método iconológico realiza a interpretação dos objetos artÃsticos, arquitetura,
pintura ou escultura, a partir da decomposição das imagens e reconstrução de seus percursos no tempo e
no espaço chegando ao que o autor chama de “sÃntese recriativaâ€.
The aim of this paper is to reflect on the Erwin Panofsky’s historiographical method and
his concept of iconology. The iconological method performs the interpretation of art objects –
architecture, painting or sculpture – from the decomposition of images and reconstruction of its paths in
space and time getting to what the author calls "re-creative synthesis."
