A partir dos anos 1990, devido à abertura econômica e o processo de globalização, as
empresas brasileiras passam a adotar novas técnicas de produção, formas de gestão e
organização do trabalho, vislumbrando a busca pela produtividade e pela competitividade
nos novos mercados. Esse processo de reestruturação produtiva foi mais significativo nos
centros industriais já consolidados e regiões metropolitanas, sobretudo São Paulo. A partir
desse perÃodo, observam-se tais transformações fora do espaço metropolitano,
principalmente em cidades médias. Para alguns autores, essas cidades tornam-se espaços
alternativos no processo de reestruturação, constituindo-se “novos espaços industriaisâ€, por
possuir infraestrutura capaz para receber as novas indústrias. O objetivo deste trabalho é
analisar as transformações industriais e inovação tecnológica em empresas industriais em
Uberaba-MG.
From the 1990s, due to economic liberalization and the globalization process, Brazilian
companies start to adopt new production techniques, forms of management and organization
of work, seeing the search for productivity and competitiveness in new markets. This
restructuring process was more significant in industrial centers already established and
metropolitan regions, especially Sao Paulo. From this period, such transformations are observed outside the metropolitan area, primarily in medium-sized cities. For some authors,
these cities become alternative spaces in the restructuring process constituting a "new
industrial spaces" by owning infrastructure able to receive the new industries. The objective
of this article is to analyze the industrial transformation and technological innovation in
industrial enterprises in Uberaba.
