Neste trabalho pretendemos, a partir da análise do Compromisso, conhecer o funcionamento da
Irmandade do SantÃssimo Sacramento
do Ouro Preto, uma associação religiosa de leigos, tão importante para o
cenário vilarriquenho setecentista. A
irmandade foi fundada em 1712, e o
Compromisso que aqui analisaremos,
é de 1738, pois não tivemos acesso
ao documento redigido na ocasião da
fundação da instituição. O Compromisso era uma espécie de regimento
interno que organizava e regulamentava a vida confrarial normatizando
desde a administração dos sacramentos, até a ajuda mútua entre os confrades que se encontravam em situação
de pobreza ou doença. Ademais, é
possÃvel conhecer um pouco do perfil dos membros da associação através
dos requisitos exigidos aos candidatos
ao ingresso na irmandade, como a exigência do pagamento de altas taxas e
a comprovação do estatuto de
pureza
de sangue. Portanto, esta fonte é bastante elucidativa para a compreensão
do ideário religioso, bem como para
o conhecimento da sociedade setecentista. Este documento encontra-se

Based on the analysis of
the
Compromise Agreement
we intend
to improve our understanging of the
functioning of the
Holy Sacrament
Brotherhood of Ouro Preto
, a secular
religious association of remarkable
importance in the 18th century scnenario of Vila Rica. The Brotherhood
was founded in 1712 and the
Compromise of Agreement
here analysed dates
from 1738 because we had no access
to the original document written at
the foundation time. The
Compromise
Agreement
was a kind of internal regulation thar organized and guided
the brotherhood life, ruling on from
the ministration of sacraments to the
assistance for unhealthy and impoverished brothers. In addition, it is
possible to delineate the profile of its
members through the requirements to
be accepted as associate, such as the
payment of high fees and proof of a
pureblood lineage. Therefore, this
source is very elucidating to provide
a better understanding of religious
concepts as well as to improve the
knowledge of the the social life in the
18th century. The
