O presente artigo busca discutir como os jesuÃtas contribuÃram para a construção da
representação do indÃgena do ponto de vista da educação, tornando-o criatura débil impossÃvel
de ser civilizada e longe do ideal europeu de educação, bem como essa imagem permaneceu
na historiografia sulina.
This article seeks to discuss how the Jesuits helped to build the image of the natives from the
education standpoint, making them weak creatures, impossible to be civilized; and far from
the European ideal of education, as well as how this image remained in the southern
historiography.
