Considerada Patrimônio Cultural Imaterial do município de Duque de Caxias, a Feira de Caxias é um evento regular que ocorre todos os domingos na região central desta cidade. Com origens que remontam a chegada dos migrantes nordestinos ao Rio de Janeiro, na década de 1920, a feira é uma parte integral da história e cultura da Baixada Fluminense. Assim, este resumo visa apresentar os resultados da pesquisa de demanda junto aos frequentadores da Feira de Caxias. Seu objetivo foi avaliar o perfil dos frequentadores e sua percepção sobre a feira, bem como identificar suas potencialidades e limitações. A metodologia adotada foi quantitativa, com a aplicação de entrevistas com 421 visitantes da feira. Os resultados revelaram que a Feira de Caxias é frequentada principalmente pelos moradores de Duque de Caxias. São pessoas acima dos 60 anos, com renda de até dois salários mínimos e que chegaram à feira por indicação de amigos e parentes. Sua principal motivação é a gastronomia. Entre os pontos críticos da feira está a segurança e a ausência de banheiros públicos. Foi percebido ainda problemas para a acessibilidade de pessoas com deficiência. Assim, apesar do potencial turístico do recurso cultural, a Feira de Domingo enfrenta desafios significativos que precisam ser superados para que suas potencialidades, por exemplo, turísticas, sejam plenamente exploradas.
Considered an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the municipality of Duque de Caxias, the Feira de Caxias is a regular event that takes place every Sunday in the central region of this city. With origins dating back to the arrival of Northeastern migrants to Rio de Janeiro in the 1920s, the fair is an integral part of the history and culture of Baixada Fluminense. Thus, this abstract aims to present the results of the demand research among the attendees of the Feira de Caxias. Its objective was to assess the profile of the attendees and their perception of the fair, as well as to identify its potentialities and problems. The adopted methodology was quantitative, with the application of interviews with 421 fair visitors. The results revealed that the Feira de Caxias is mainly attended by residents of Duque de Caxias. They are people over60 years old, with income of up to two minimum wages, and who arrived at the fair through recommendations from friends and relatives. Their main motivation is gastronomy. Among the critical points of the fair are security and the absence of public restrooms. Problems with accessibility for people with disabilities were also noticed. Thus, despite the tourist potential of this cultural resource, the Sunday Fair faces significant challenges that need to be overcome so that its potentialities, for example, tourism-related ones, can be fully explored.
