Este estudo teve por objetivo caracterizar e comparar,em função do sexo,as orientações motivacionais de estudantes do Ensino Médio (EM) nas aulas de Educação Física (EF). A amostra foi composta por 110 estudantes de ambos os sexos, com idades entre 14 e 19 anos (16,1±1,16), de um Colégio Técnico Federal de um município da Baixada Fluminense, do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O instrumento utilizado foi o Perception of Success Questionnaire (POSQ). No geral, a amostra apresentou na orientação para a tarefa índice médio de 3,51±0,76 e em orientação para o ego médiade 2,77±0,82. Os meninos apresentaram média superior nas duas orientações em comparação com as meninas, mas não foi encontrada diferença significante. Conclui-se que os estudantes investigados estão mais motivados intrinsecamente, com predominância de umaorientação para a tarefa, o que favorece à maior perseverança no engajamento das atividades propostas na EF escolar.
This study aimed to characterize and to compare the motivational orientations of high school students in Physical Education (PE) classes as a function of gender. The sample consisted of 110 students of both sexes, aged between 14 and 19 years (16.1±1.16), from a Federal Technical College of the municipality in the Baixada Fluminense, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The instrument used was the Perception of Success Questionnaire (POSQ). Overall, the sample showed the task orientation average index of 3.51 ± 0.76 and the average ego orientation of 2.77 ± 0.82.The boys had a higher mean in both orientations compared to girls, but no significant difference was found. It is concluded that the investigated students are more intrinsically motivated, with a predominance of task orientation, which favors greater perseverance in engaging the proposed activities in school PE.
