We read with interest the literature on infections by Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC) in hospitalized patients as well as individuals pertaining to the group of injecting drug addicts1-6. Besides cystic fibrosis and immunosuppression, patients under intensive support are more prone to pneumonia, sepsis, peritonitis, tunnel infection, endocarditis, septic arthritis and spondylitis 1-6. Solid tumors, myeloma and megaloblastic anemia are included among predisposing conditions 1 . BCC are Gramnegative non-fermentative aerobic bacteria described causing the onion rot in the 1950s; they survive for long time in water and soil, contaminate antiseptic solutions, liquid or gel pharmaceutical products, skin sanitizers, and fluids of dialysis in hospital environment1-6. They can be resistant to carboxypenicillins, polymyxin and aminoglycosides; meropenem, doripenem, ceftazidime, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, doxycycline and minocycline are effective1-6
