Este artigo discute o papel do viajante Hitlodeu na obra Utopia (1516), de Thomas More, observando os elementos que compõem o conjunto harmônico da obra. Como caracterizadora do gênero utópico, é portadora de um projeto humanista de transformação social baseado em critérios racionais que poderiam resultar em melhorias de vida comum dos povos do Ocidente.
This article discusses the role of the traveler Hitlodeu in Utopia (1516) by Thomas More, noting the elements which make up the whole harmony of the narrative. As a defining work of the utopian genre is the bearer of a humanist project of social transformation based on rational criteria that could result in improvement of people´s life in the West.
