O artigo apresenta alguns marcos na trajetória dos arquivos até o seu reconhecimento como patrimônio documental, fazendo uma relação com as políticas e práticas da conservação de documentos. O tema é desenvolvido por meio de uma análise realizada a partir da literatura arquivística e das discussões e recomendações sobre a proteção dos bens culturais, publicadas entre os séculos XIX e XX, e disseminadas em nível internacional por profissionais e organizações. Como resultado, apresenta que a Arquivologia percebida de forma inter e transdisciplinar, mediante os cuidados e atenção com os aspectos da materialidade (documento-informação) e da imaterialidade (representação-contexto), possibilita a inclusão dos documentos de arquivo como patrimônio cultural.
The article presents some milestones in the trajectory of the archives until their recognition as documentary heritage, making a relationship with the policies and practices of document conservation. The theme is developed through an analysis carried out from the archival literature and from the discussions and recommendations on the protection of cultural assets, published between the 19th and 20th centuries, and disseminated internationally by professionals and organizations. As a result, it presents that Archivology perceived in an inter and transdisciplinary way, through the care and attention with the aspects of materiality (document-information) and immateriality (representation-context), allows the inclusion of archival documents as cultural heritage.
