The purpose of this paper is to show how Brazilian society claims for prison reform, but act towards a completely opposite direction. Even though there has been a crescent curiosity and focus on some of the issues found in the prison system itself, including matters related to penal law, trials and procedures, the mentality that society is driven by makes results go to the opposite direction.
