Desenvolveu-se a análise documental do conjunto das teses e dissertações do PPGEA – Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Ambiental da FURG (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande) – ao longo de 20 anos, do ponto de vista de sua percepção, descrição ou discussão sobre a temática da Poluição Industrial na sua área geográfica de inserção, o Estuário da Lagoa dos Patos (RS, Brasil). O conjunto dessa produção foi classificado em três grandes categorias, em relação ao tema de pesquisa: sem conexão com o mesmo; como subsídios para discussão; com aderência estrita ao tema. A categoria com aderência estrita ao tema foi reprocessada, através da análise textual discursiva, para detalhamento dos elementos emergentes na mesma. Discutem-se as prováveis causas e implicações destes resultados, especialmente da invisibilidade relativa do tema de pesquisa, e do fenômeno da negação e naturalização da poluição industrial neste conjunto. Também são discutidos os seus reflexos no papel do PPGEA, como “Centro de Referência” em Educação Ambiental da instituição.

All dissertations and theses from PPGEA - Graduate Program in Environmental Education of FURG (Federal University of Rio Grande), over 20 years, went through a desk review from the point of view of their perception, description or discussion on the Industrial Pollution theme in its geographical area of insertion, the estuary of the Lagoa dos Patos (RS, Brazil). The set of this production was classified into three broad categories concerning their research topic: no connection therewith; as subsidies for discussion; with strict adherence to the theme. The category with strict adherence to the theme was reprocessed through discursive textual analysis to detail the emerging elements in it. The probable causes and implications of these results are discussed, especially the relative invisibility of the research topic, and the phenomenon of denial and naturalization of industrial pollution in this set. Their reflections on the role of PPGEA as a “Reference Center” in Environmental Education of the institution are also discussed.
