Este artigo analisa as relações Brasil-Ãfrica no quadro da polÃtica externa dos governos Collor e Itamar Franco. Procura demonstrar que, em face da crise econômica que atinge o Brasil e os Estados africanos na década de 1980, bem como pelas mudanças operadas na orientação diplomática brasileira entre estes dois governos, a polÃtica externa em direção ao continente africano não encontrou suficientes subsÃdios governamentais que lhe garantissem maior ressonância e viabilidade.
This article analyzes Afro-Brazilian relations in foreign policy during the Collor and Itamar Franco administrations. It demonstrates that, facing the economic crisis that affectedBrazil and the African states during the 1980s, as well as the changes made in the direction of Brazilian diplomacy between these two administrations, the foreign policy in relation to the African continent did not receive sufficient government subsidies to guarantee major impact or viability.
