Este artigo pretende analisar a conexão entre emoções, especialmente o ódio, e as ações no romance Die Liebhaberinnen, da autora austríaca Elfriede Jelinek. Após uma introdução teórica que discute os pressupostos em volta do par emoção e ação, o artigo analisa (1) os obstáculos ao prazer e o princípio do ódio, (2), o episódio do café da tarde e as regras da norma social e por fim (3) o prazer do outro como mecanismo desencadeador do ódio e da ação. Neste romance, Elfriede Jelinek mostra o potencial de destruição do sujeito em busca do prazer pessoal, as distorções da fala em contextos sociais e as formas de silenciar o desejo de mudança.
This article aims to analyze the connection between emotions, especially hate, and actions in the novel Die Liebhaberinnen, published by Austrian writer Elfriede Jelinek. After a theoretical introduction, which discusses the presuppositions about the pair emotion and action, this articles focuses on (1) the obstacles for pleasure and the principle of hate, (2) the episode of the afternoon coffee break and the rules of social norm, eventually, (3) the pleasures of others as triggering mechanism of hate and action. In this novel, Elfriede Jelinek shows the individual’s destruction potential in search of personal pleasure, the distortions of speech in social contexts and the ways of silencing the desire for change.
