Nosso objetivo com a atual pesquisa foi mostrar como as celebrações do 1° de Maio apareceram nos periódicos da cidade de Manaus dentro de nossa temporalidade e analisar as nuances da classe trabalhadora acerca deste acontecimento, levando em conta a dualidade “festa x protesto†muito presente nas comemorações. O Primeiro de Maio é um dos fenômenos mais importantes e interessantes da História do Trabalho, pois nos mostrou o quão organizados eram os trabalhadores. Suas lutas e angustias eram externadas durante o movimento que, em seu nascimento, foi pensado para ser o primeiro grande rito operário internacional.
Our aim of the current research was to show how the celebrations of May 1st appeared in the journals of the city of Manaus within our temporality and analyze the nuances of working class on this event, taking into account the duality "party x protest" very present in the celebrations. The first of May is one of the most important and interesting phenomena of labor history, because it shows us how the workers were organized. Their struggles and sorrows were expressed during the movement that, at it's inception, was thought to be the first major international labor rite.
