O texto busca caracterizar elementos de um saber profissional, a partir de orientações para o ensino de cálculo em um manual: o Compêndio de Pedagogia de Braulio Cordeiro (1874). Para isso o texto se amparou em autores que defendem que a transformação de uma informação em conhecimento se dá por processos e naqueles que colocam o saber como tema central nos estudos das profissões do ensino e da formação. O processo é estudado por três etapas: coleta de informações; análise de conhecimentos e sistematização e análise de saberes. Desse modo, que “cálculo para ensinar” pode ser sistematizado, a partir da análise das orientações dadas ao professor, no manual de Braulio Cordeiro (1874)? Por meio da análise do manual se verifica diretivas para objetivação de um saber no ensino de cálculo escrito da adição e subtração escrita; no ensino do cálculo mental de multiplicação e divisão (com uso de operações equivalentes) e numeração falada com a finalidade de agilizar a resolução dessas operações.
The paper aims to characterize elements of a professional knowledge in the guidelines for teaching mathematical calculation in a pedagogical textbook: the Compendium of Pedagogy of Braulio Cordeiro (1874). The paper was referenced in authors who defend that the transformation of information in knowledge occurs through processes and authors who put knowledge as a central theme in the studies of the professions of education and training.The process takes place in three stages: information gathering; knowledge analysis and knowledge systematization. Thus, what "mathematical calculation for teaching" can be systematized, from the analysis of the guidelines given to the teacher, in Braulio Cordeiro's (1874) pedagogical textbook? As results, there are directives for objectifying a knowledge in the teaching of written mathematical calculation for teaching the addition and subtraction; in the teaching of the mental mathematical calculation of multiplication and division (with the use of equivalent operations) and reading whole numberswith the purpose of activating the resolution of the four operations.
