The “self” present on Carlos Drummond de Andrade poems discusses the concept of “being” by making us think about a “being” that exists beyond the concept of “self” in poetry. In Drummond’s writing, the “being” metaphorically searches to be involved with humanity. However, at the same time, this poetic “self” realizes of what separate the “beings” from the things. In this sense, this work aims do discuss how the poet searches for one a priori, as well for the essence of what he wishes to sing of. Especially in “A máquina do mundo”, we argue that he proposes, in this way, a poetic form of thinking.
