O tema sexualidade, no Brasil, ganhou destaque a partir do século XX, com o passar do tempo essa preocupação sofreu mudanças em sua concepção. A princípio não se sabia de quem era a responsabilidade de ensinar sexualidade aos jovens. Porém, com o advento das doenças sexualmente transmissíveis e a AIDS, a sociedade começa a entender a importância de educar os jovens para a sexualidade. Neste contexto, a criação dos PCNs, tendo como tema transversal a orientação sexual, foi um marco, pois este tema começa realmente a fazer parte do conteúdo escolar. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar o conhecimento sobre o tema sexualidade dos alunos do 8º e 9º ano de escolas públicas do município de Itaperuna, RJ. Para tal, foi elaborado um questionário, o qual indagava sobre o conhecimento de DSTs e gravidez. A análise dos resultados revelou que os alunos apresentam um conhecimento, relativamente, pequeno sobre o tema e que boa parte do conhecimento destes alunos é adquirida na escola. Neste sentido, é importante que professores sejam capacitados para atuarem melhor no ensino do tema sexualidade.
The theme of sexuality in Brazilgained prominence from the twentieth century, with the passage of time has changed this concern in its design. At first it was not known who was responsible to teach sexuality to young people. However, with the advent of sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, society begins to understand the importance of educating young people to sexuality. In this context, the creation of PCNs, with the cross-cutting theme sexual orientation, was a milestone because this subject really gets part of the school curriculum. The present study aimed to analyze the knowledge on the topic of sexuality students of 8th and 9th grade public schools of Itaperuna, RJ. To this end, we designed a questionnaire, which asked about the knowledge of STDs and pregnancy. The results revealed that the students have a knowledge relatively little about the subject and that much of the knowledge acquired these students are in school. In this sense, it is important that teachers be trained to work better in teaching the topic sexuality.
