O presente texto apresenta inicialmente a vida do poeta latino Lucrécio e, em seguida, a estrutura do poema didascálico De rerum natura e os assuntos que são desenvolvidos em cada um dos seis livros do poema, cujo objetivo é, seguindo os ensinamentos de Epicuro, emancipar os seres humanos do medo dos deuses e da morte e proporcionar-lhes uma vida feliz.
This text presents initially the life of the Latin poet Lucretius and then the structure of the didascalic poem De rerum natura and the subjects that are developed in each of the six books of the poem, whose purpose, following the teachings of Epicurus, is to emancipate human beings from the fear of the gods and death and provide them with a happy life.
