Todos os arquivos guardam informações que servem de vestígios para auxiliar os pesquisadores a refletir sobre os conceitos hierarquizados. Essa concepção de arquivo embasada principalmente em Ricouer (2007), Le Goff (1984), Nora (1993), Foucault (2007) e Derrida (2001) pode nortear os estudiosos da circulação literária que ao mergulhar nas fontes primárias têm feito descobertas significativas para a construção do cenário em que as condições da leitura e da literatura se desenvolviam em nosso país, redesenhando a compreensão da formação não só do cânone, como também do próprio conceito de texto literário. A pesquisa realizada nos jornais cariocas da segunda metade do século XIX revelou diversas notícias sobre os freqüentadores dos espaços de leitura mostrando um número expressivo de leitores, sendo as belas letras o assunto de maior interesse em quase todos os anúncios. Se por um lado isso revela o quanto a literatura era bem aceita pela sociedade oitocentista, por outro demonstra que o número de leitores da época não era tão reduzido como comumente se supõe.
All of the files hold traceable information to help researchers think about hierarchical concepts. This archival conception, based mainly on Ricouer (2007), Le Goff (1984), Nora (1993), Foucault (2007) and Derrida(2001) can guide students of literary circulation who, when diving in primary sources, have made significant discoveries the construction of the scenario in which the conditions of reading and literature developed in our country, redesigning the understanding of the formation not only of the canon, but also of the very concept of literary text. The research carried out in the Rio de Janeiro newspapers of the second half of the 19th century revealed several news stories about readers of reading spaces showing an expressive number of readers, with beautiful lyrics being the subject of most interest in almost every advertisement. If on the one hand this reveals how well literature was accepted by nineteenth-century society, on the other hand it shows that the number of readers of the time was not as small as it is commonly supposed.
