O presente trabalho analisa o conto Solfieri de Manuel Antônio Álvares de Azevedo para apresentar as influências sofridas pelo narrador que criou sua personagem baseada em uma figura amplamente representada nas Literaturas Góticas do século XVIII. Para que fosse possível estudar o conto, foi realizado um estudo sobre o Fantástico, tendo como base as teorias de Todorov (2014) o qual faz uma análise estruturalista das características das narrativas Fantásticas dividindo-as em Fantástico, Estranho e Maravilhoso. Para conceituar os contos de Horror foram utilizadas as teorias de Lovecraft (2004), o qual situa o Horror e o sobrenatural na Literatura e Ceserani (2006),no qual se observa que o conto Fantástico envolve o leitor, levando a um ambiente real, e nele, as possibilidades são aceitáveis, pois só assim será possível disparar os mecanismos que causam o medo que é a principal intenção dos contos de Horror. Bosi (2006), destaca ainfluência do Romantismo europeu na literatura brasileira, fazendo de Azevedo um representante da Geração Byronianano Brasil.
his paper analyzes Solfieri's short story by Manuel Antônio Álvares de Azevedo to present the influences suffered by the narrator who created his character based on a figure widely represented in the Gothic Literatures of the 18th century. In order to study the short story, a study on the Fantastic was made, having as basis the theories of Todorov (2014), who makes a structural analysis of the characteristics of the Fantastic narratives, dividing them into Fantastic, Strange and Wonderful. In order to conceptualize the short stories of Horror it was used the theories of Lovecraft (2004), which places the Horror and the supernatural in Literature and Ceserani (2006), in which it is observed that the Fantastic short story involves the reader, guiding him to a real environment where the possibilities are acceptable, for just thus it is possible to bring about the mechanisms that cause the fear that is the main intention of the short stories of Horror. Bosi (2006), highlights the influence of European Romanticism in Brazilian literature, turning Azevedo into a representative of the Byronian Generation in Brazil
