Este estudo tem como objetivo traçar um panorama sobre a utilização da tecnologia no ensino de línguas estrangeiras desde os primórdios até a contemporaneidade, focalizando as tecnologias colaborativas e destacando os sites de redes sociais. O pressuposto orientador dessa pesquisa foi o de que ao investigar um relevante corpus da literatura especializada na área seria possível reunir informações sobre as características desses sites, bem como as potencialidades e os desafios de sua utilização na promoção do desenvolvimento da habilidade da produção textual no ensino e aprendizagem de inglês como língua estrangeira. Como foi desenvolvido com base, exclusivamente, em fontes bibliográficas, trata-se de uma Pesquisa de Fontes Secundárias, de natureza qualitativa, que se soma a outros trabalhos já desenvolvidos sobre essa temática, e que oportunizou a aquisição, atualização e aprofundamento deconhecimentos relativos às novas tecnologia da informação e comunicação (TIC) aplicáveis ao ensino de línguas estrangeiras, abrindo caminho para ampliar e ressignificar o aproveitamento dos referidos recursos.
This study aims to give an overview on the use of technology in the teaching of foreign languages from the earliest to the present time, emphasizing the collaborative technologies and highlightingthe social networking sites. The guiding assumption of this research was that by investigating a relevant corpus of literature in the specialized area, it would be possible to gather information on the characteristics of these sites, as well as the potential and the challenges of their use in promoting the development of text production skills in the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language.
