A antropologia é uma ciência que busca compreender o ser humano em sua complexidade, inserindo, em sua metodologia de análise, questões sociais e culturais que circundam o indivíduo em diversas fases históricas e em diferentes contextos. Sua finalidade é investigar o ser humano em sua totalidade, incluindo diversos âmbitos, como cultural, religioso, social, psicológico, entre outros. Como uma de suas vertentes, a antropologia da religião dedica-se ao estudo do ser humano sob a sua perspectiva religiosa, com vistas a compreender de que maneira as instituições religiosas possuem relação com as culturas diversas presentes na sociedade. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo tem o objetivo de compreender a construção da antropologia da religião no Brasil e seus estudos a respeito das religiões afro-brasileiras. Para atingir essa finalidade, realiza-se um levantamento bibliográfico, com a busca e seleção de artigos científicos e doutrinas, por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa. Como resultados, foi possível observar que a antropologia da religião passou por fases diversas nos estudos sobre as religiões afro-brasileiras, sendo cada uma delas caracterizadas por aspectos que marcaram as respectivas épocas.
Anthropology is a science that seeks to understand the human being in its complexity, inserting, in its methodology of analysis, social and cultural issues that surround the individual in various historical phases and in different contexts. Its purpose is to investigate the human being in its entirety, including various areas, such as cultural, religious, social, psychological, among others. As one of its aspects, the anthropology of religion is dedicated to the study of the human being from its religious perspective, with a view to understanding how religious institutions are related to the diverse cultures present in society. In this sense, the present study aims to understand the construction of the anthropology of religion in Brazil and its studies on Afro-Brazilian religions. To achieve this goal, a bibliographic survey is carried out, with the search and selection of scientific articles and doctrines, through a qualitative approach. As a result, it was possible to observe that the anthropology of religion went through different phases in studies on Afro-Brazilian religions, each of which was characterized by aspects that marked the respective times.
