O presente artigo analisa os efeitos da trajetória histórica do Documento Edu- cação que Nós Surdos Queremos, elaborado pela Comunidade Surda antes da realização do importante evento V Congresso Latino-americano de Educação Bilíngue na Universidade Federal de Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, no ano de 1999. O documento foi entregue ao governador do estado gaúcho, Olívio Dutra. O documento, que fez muita diferença na educação de surdos, tem mais de vinte anos e surtiu grandes efeitos. Neste trabalho trago alguns apontamen- tos importantes de alguns acontecimentos e realizações da Comunidade Surda após o documento referido; a oficialização da lei nº 10.436, a criação do Curso de Letras/Libras e os Movimentos pelas Escolas Bilíngues para Surdos; esses três citados são os efeitos centrais. Utilizei alguns recortes da minha Disser- tação de Mestrado em Educação, realizado na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, em 2013. Obtive três entrevistas para a composição desse trabalho, dos três sujeitos importantes que participaram nas organizações do documento e da passeata, que aconteceu dois dias antes do V Congresso Latino-americano de Educação Bilíngue. Os eventos do Setembro Azul também tiveram destaques nos efeitos. Finalizo com problematizações sobre a realidade da Educação Bilín- gue para Surdos do Brasil e da luta que segue até hoje.
This article analyzes the effects of the historical trajectory of the Document Education that we deaf want, prepared by the Deaf Community before the holding of the important event V Latin American Congress of Bilingual Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Su, Porto Alegre in 1999 the document was delivered to the governor of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Olívio Dutra. The document that made a big difference in the education of the deaf is more than twenty years old and has had great effects. Un this work I bring some important notes of some events and achievements of the deaf community after the afore- mentioned document; the officialization of law n 10.436, the creation of the Letters/Libras course and the Movements for Bilingual Schools for the deaf, these three mentioned are the central effects. I used some clippings from my Master’s Dissertation in Education held at the Federal University of Santa Maria in 2013. I obtained three interviews to compose this work, from the three important subjects who participated in the organizations of the document and the march, that took place two days before the V Latino Congress-Ame- rican Bilingual Education. The events of the Blue September also had highlights in the effects. I conclude with problematizations about the reality of Bilingual Education for the Deaf in Brazil and the struggle that continues until today.
