No Estado do Tocantins, a dinâmica recente da rede urbana revela alterações significativas,
reflexo das transformações polÃticas, econômicas e socioculturais por que vem
passando essa região, sobretudo, depois da separação polÃtica do Estado de Goiás
e da inserção na Amazônia Oriental em 1989. Nesse contexto, a pesquisa objetiva
elucidar como ocorrem os processos de diferenciação entre Porto Nacional e Palmas,
ou seja, compreender as implicações da construção de Palmas, a capital projetada,
para Porto Nacional, um dos principais centros do antigo norte goiano, hoje Tocantins,
considerando os papéis urbano-regionais e os processos de re-hierarquização.
In the Tocantins State, the recent dynamic of the urban network reviles significant
changes, reflex of the political, economic, social and cultural transformation, for it
has passing this area, especially after the political device of the Tocantins State and
the Goiás State and the insertion of Eastern Amazon in 1989. In this context, of the
research objective to show the occurrence of the processes between Porto Nacional and Palmas towns, or, to understand the implications of the construction of Palmas,
the projected capital, to Porto Nacional, one of the main centre of the antique of
the north of the Goiás State, today Tocantins, considering the urban-regional role
and the processes of re-hierarquization.
