Heart conditions are one of the most predominant diseases worldwide. Since surgeon dentists are likely to attend these patients in their clinics, they should be able to cope with eventualities. Among the most deleterious types, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia and bacterial endocarditis present the most harmful cardiovascular risks. Current research shows the importance of previous knowledge on main heart diseases, their characteristics, the right choice in anesthetic and other factors that provide the dentist with the required tools for the safe attendance of heart condition patients.
