O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar parte das pesquisas sobre expansão da educação superior desenvolvidas pelas autoras junto ao Observatório da EducaçãoObeduc/Universitas-BR, no período de 2009 a 2014, tendo como focos: financiamento e diversificação das instituições. Destacamos os Institutos Federais de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia (IFs) criados pela Lei nº. 11.892/2008, abordando a expansão, formação e trabalho docente, no contexto da mercantilização da educação. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa básica, exploratória e descritiva, apoiada em análise bibliográfica e documental. A investigação revelou a dificuldade de acesso aos dados oficiais direcionados às licenciaturas nos IFs, tendo em vista que IFs e Centros Federais de Educação Tecnológica são apresentados em uma única categoria de Organização Acadêmica. O texto ressalta, ainda, como a mercantilização da educação pode modificar o papel dos docentes e interferir nas ações governamentais frente às demandas da categoria.
The purpose of this article is to present part of the research on the expansion of higher education developed by the authors at the Observatory of Education-Obeduc/Universitas-BR, from 2009 to 2014, focusing on: financing and diversification of institutions. We highlight the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IFs), created by Law nº. 11.892/2008, approaching the expansion, training and teaching work, in the context of the commodification of education. It is a basic qualitative research, exploratory and descriptive, supported by bibliographical and documentary analysis. The investigation revealed the difficulty of accessing the official data directed to the teacher training courses in the IFs, since IFs and Federal Centers of Technological Education are displayed in a single category of Academic Organization. The text also highlights how the commodification of education can modify the role of teachers and interfere with government actions in response to the demands of the category.
