Este artigo discute limites e possibilidades de realizar uma interpretação simbólica das imagens técnicas.São apresentadas definições de imaginário, bem como distinções e convergências entre imagens simbólicas, visuais, técnicas, endógenas e exógenas. Isso é feito com base em obras dos seguintes teóricos da imagem: Aumont, Belting, Debray, Durand, Eliade, Flusser e Maffesoli. As considerações finais apontam para anecessidade de localizar as imagens simbólicas catalisadas por imagens técnicas no trajeto entre as pulsões biopsíquicas e as coerções sociais para saber o quão aberta ao imagináriose encontram.
This paper discusses limits and possibilities of performing a symbolic interpretation of technical images. Definitions of imaginary, as well as distinctions and convergences between symbolic, visual, technical, endogenous and exogenous images are presented. This is done based on works by the following image theorists: Aumont, Belting, Debray, Durand, Eliade, Flusser and Maffesoli. The final considerations point to the need to locate the symbolic images catalyzed by technical images in the path between the biopsychic drives and the social coercions to know how open to the imaginary they are.
