Este estudo objetiva compreender marcas de resistência da identidade nigeriana a partir da análise da obra O mundo se despedaça, do escritor nigeriano Chinua Achebe. Dentre os aspectos teóricos que balizam as análises, estão as discussões acerca dos conceitos de colonialidade, eurocentrismo e reconhecimento, importantes motes para a compreensão da obra. Autor africano nascido em Ogidi, na Nigéria, Achebe transcreve na sua obra o contexto em que ele e seus ancestrais viveram, buscando retratar uma África a partir dela. As análises identificam elementos que representam a deserção de parte do povo igbo, ao se submeter ao “convite” dos colonizadores; e a resistência, ao retratar costumes que ainda são mantidos naquele contexto e ao recuperar o uso de aspectos linguísticos na própria escrita da narrativa.
This study aims to understand resistance marks of Nigerian identity from the analysis of the work O mundo se despedaça (Things fall apart), by the Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe. Among the theoretical aspects that guide the analyzes, are the discussions about the concepts of coloniality, Eurocentrism and recognition, important themes for the understanding of the work. African author born in Ogidi, Nigeria, Achebe transcribes in his work the context in which he and his ancestors lived, seeking to portray an Africa from it. The analyzes identify elements that represent the defection of part of the Igbo people, when they submitted to the “invitation” of the colonizers; and the resistance, by portraying customs that are still maintained in that context and by recovering the use of linguistic aspects in the writing of the narrative itself.
