Buscou-se detectar mudanças na importância dada aos temas de Paleontologia e Geologia no ensino de Ciências Naturais e Biologia nos últimos doze anos. Foram analisados os conteúdos sugeridos pelos PCNs, OCEM e BNCC e avaliada quantitativa e qualitativamente a sua abordagem em livros didáticos de Ciências Naturais e Biologia adotados em colégios de Salvador (Bahia) em 2006 e 2017/2018.Atualmente, os assuntos paleontológicos tem maior ocorrência nos livros didáticos do que há doze anos, mas estão quase restritos ao 7º ano, o que contraria as orientações dos PCNs e da BNCC do EFII. Apesar disto, houve aumento considerável na inclusão destes no EM, podendo haver retrocesso com as novas recomendações da BNCC. Apesar de adequadamente apresentados, os conteúdos geológicos foram registrados quase que exclusivamente nos livros do 6º ano. É muito preocupante a supressão de assuntos geológicos na BNCC, principalmente para o Ensino Médio.
To detect changes in the importance given to the subjects of Paleontology and Geology in teaching Science and Biology in Brazil in the last twelve years, previous and new Brazilian curricular parameters were analyzed and evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively in Science and Biology textbooks used in schools of Salvador, Bahia in 2006 and 2017/2018. Currently, Paleontology subjects have more occurrences in textbooks than twelve years ago, however, contradicting old (OCEM) and new (BNCC) Brazilian High School curricular guidelines, they are mostly restricted to the second year of Elementary School II (ESII). Despite this, there was a considerable increase in the inclusion of these subjects in High School didactic books, although there may be a reversal of this trend with the adoption of the new curricular recommendations. Despite being adequately presented, geological content is found almost exclusively in books of the first year of ESII. The reduction of Geology subjects in the new common national curricular basis (BNCC) is very troubling, especially with regard to implications for HS teaching.
