O presente artigo trata de uma reflexão sobre a tradição de fazer rendas de bilros, considerando suas funções para a comunidade de rendeiras da Lagoa da Conceição em Florianópolis. A discussão sobre como as rendeiras mantiveram a tradição de fazer rendas por gerações, adaptando nova funcionalidade ao produto artesanal, bem como as transformações que ocorreram após o crescimento do turismo no local, são enfatizadas sob a perspectiva sócio-econômica e sócio-cultural desta comunidade. As mudanças e permanências visualizadas na tradição de fazer rendas definem as novas caracterÃsticas do produto na atualidade, que deixou de ser de uso doméstico para ser um produto artesanal turÃstico. As possÃveis mudanças nas técnicas, instrumentos e modo de fazer o produto são discutidas sob o olhar das rendeiras da Lagoa, possibilitando assim, uma interação da comunidade com a questão da continuidade do processo, e verificando com isso, as possÃveis intervenções que estas mulheres acreditam ser necessárias para garantir a preservação das rendas de bilros enquanto elemento de seu legado cultural.
This paper attends of a reflection about the tradition of making laces of bilros, considering their function for the lacemarkers community of Lagoa da Conceição in Florianópolis. The discussion is about how the lacemakers kept the tradition of making laces for generations, adapting new functionality to the handcraft product, as well as the transformations that happened in that community after the tourism growth and keeping focus on the social-economic and socio-cultural perspectives of this community. The changes and permanencies visualized in the tradition of making laces define the new features of the product in nowadays, where a domestic handcraft product turned into a touristic handcraft product. The possible changes in technique, instruments and way of making the product are discussed under the lacemaker’s point of view, making possible an interaction between the community and the issue of the process continuity where its possible verify the possible interventions that these women believe to be necessary to guarantee the preservation of laces of bilros as an element of their cultural heritage.
