Narrativas do imaginário como lendas, folclores, mitos e ficções são expressões simbólicas das representações sociais que, na ciência brasileira, têm sido solo fértil para estudos centrados nas representações, sobretudo nas Ciências Sociais. A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar como se configuram as narrativas do imaginário nas produções científicas da Ciência da Informação brasileira. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório, bibliográfico e qualiquantitativo, com métodos de análise de conteúdo e análise bibliométrica. O corpus da pesquisa configura oito produções científicas indexadas na Base de Dados em Ciência da Informação. Os resultados indicam que o assunto está presente na Ciência da Informação brasileira desde 2004, demonstrando ser um tema recente no domínio. O número de obras identificadas desde este ano, oito, sugere a baixa produção sobre as narrativas do imaginário na área em questão. Com base nos dados da pesquisa, o local do país de maior representatividade é a região sudeste e a temática é marcada por um aspecto multidisciplinar. As lendas são as narrativas do imaginário de maior familiaridade na área e categorias como o sobrenatural, o real, a atualidade, a identidade e a marginalidade estão presentes nas obras analisadas. Pesquisas da Ciência da Informação brasileira sobre mediação da leitura, memória, disseminação da informação e biblioteca escolar se evidenciaram nos resultados. Considera-se que o aprofundamento teórico das dinâmicas em torno das narrativas do imaginário é basilar para que a Ciência da Informação amplifique os conhecimentos da área acerca dos sentidos de objetos como a informação simbólica, as representações sociais, a formação da memória coletiva, as práticas informacionais e a relação entre informação e poder.
Narratives of the imaginary such as legends, folklore, myths, and fiction are symbolic expressions of social representations that, in Brazilian science, have provided fertile ground for studies focused on representations, particularly in the social sciences. The objective of this research is to analyze how narratives of the imagination are configured in scientific publications in Brazilian Information Science. This is an exploratory, bibliographic, and quali-quantitative study, employing content analysis and bibliometric analysis methods. The research corpus consists of eight scientific publications indexed in the Information Science Database. The results indicate that the subject has been present in Brazilian Information Science since 2004, demonstrating that it is a recent topic in the field. The number of works identified since that year - eight -suggests a low volume of research on narratives of the imaginary in this area. Based on the research data, the region of the country with the highest representation is the Southeast, and the subject matter is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach. Legends are the most familiar narratives of the imaginary in the field, and categories such as the supernatural, the real, current events, identity, and marginality are present in the works analyzed. Research in Brazilian Information Science on reading mediation, memory, information dissemination, and school libraries was evident in the results. It is considered that a deeper theoretical understanding of the dynamics surrounding narratives of the imagination is fundamental for Information Science to expand knowledge in the field regarding the meanings of objects such as symbolic information, social representations, the formation of collective memory, informational practices, and the relationship between information and power.
