Este trabalho resgata brevemente a trajetória de pesquisas realizadas por assistentes
sociais em favelas do Rio de Janeiro e, em seguida, sintetiza as principais
inflexões da trajetória profissional neste campo, partindo da experiência desenvolvida
pelo Núcleo de Pesquisa e Extensão Favela e Cidadania (FACI), no sentido de
contribuir para uma reflexão sobre os desafios a ser enfrentados pelo Serviço Social
para a produção de conhecimentos nessa área.
This paper briefly recovers the trajectory of research carried out by social
workers in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and then summarizes the main modifications
of the professional trajectory in this field, drawing from the experience developed
by the Núcleo de Pesquisa e Extensão Favela e Cidadania (Center for Research
and Extension Favela and Citizenship - FACI) to contribute to a reflection on the
challenges being faced by Social Work for the production of knowledge in this area.
