Este trabalho pretende apresentar o que é a Educação a Distância, bem como
compreender o processo histórico de sua organização, entender a dimensão dessa
modalidade de ensino na atualidade, especificamente a partir de 2005, marco de
regulamentação dessa forma de ensino para a educação brasileira. As bases legais para a
instituição da educação superior no Brasil foram estabelecidas pela Lei de Diretrizes e
Bases da Educação Nacional (Lei n.º 9.394, de 20 de dezembro de 1996),
regulamentada pelo Decreto n.º 5.622, publicado no D.O.U., de 20 de dezembro de
2005. O papel do aluno é ressignificado, pois o mesmo assume uma atuação de
autonomia de construção do conhecimento e possui algumas caracterÃsticas especÃficas
como estudar de acordo com seu ritmo e disponibilidade. O professortutor
não é o
transmissor do conhecimento ao aluno, e sim o mediador do conhecimento, atuando
como orientador, motivador e incentivador do processo de aprendizagem, que deve
juntamente) com o aluno vencer as dificuldades e barreiras provocadas pela distância
geográfica. O ambiente de aprendizagem é um ambiente virtual, que deve oferecer
ferramentas tecnológicas necessárias à constante interlocução entre professoraluno
e
proporcionar as informações necessárias ao processo de ensinoaprendizagem.
A
avaliação se dá de forma contÃnua e formativa, com a mediação e participação do
professor durante todo o processo de construção do conhecimento. Essa construção
acontece de forma responsável, autônoma, consciente e crÃtica. A metodologia utilizada
foi a revisão bibliográfica das obras de diversos autores que são citados ao longo do
texto.
This paper aims to present what is distance education, as well as understanding the
historical process of their organization, understand the dimension of this teaching today,
specifically from 2005, landmark legislation this form of training for the Brazilian
education. The legal basis for the institution of higher education in Brazil was

throughout the process of knowledge construction. This construction takes place in a
responsible, autonomous, conscious, and criticism. The methodology was to review the
works of several authors who are cited throughout the text.
